What is VanSafe?
VanSafe is a scheme designed by some of the best van operators in Ireland; facilitated and managed by FTA Ireland to recognise excellence and improve operational standards. At its heart is the VanSafe Code which is a Code of Practice outlining ‘what good looks like’ in van operations.
With The Code established, our scheme has been developed to allow operators to ensure their standards of operation meet the requirements as laid out in the Code, enabling them to be recognised as van operators that adhere to a best practice framework. We have now developed the support available not only to those seeking or who have gained certification, but to all van operators to ensure they are operating to nationally recognised best practice standards.
Sections include the following:
- VanSafe Code
- Vehicle condition
- Safe working
- Vehicle standards
- Vehicle administration
- Driver licensing
- Driver behaviour
- Driver compliance
- Driver competence
- Training
- Driver identification

VANSAFE
WHAT WILL MY MEMBERSHIP INCLUDE?
“VanSafe has helped us ensure that we have systems and process in place that not only meet all our vehicular legal and regulatory requirements, but much more besides.
The themes and standards of VanSafe are well developed, validated and achievable. The process of achieving VanSafe set a goal for both staff and management and ensures that we stay focused on the safety of our staff and customers.
VanSafe accreditation provides our customers with confidence in our organisation and they see it as added value. VanSafe has allowed us to challenge potential customers to seek the same safety standards from our competitors and will push standards and safety in our industry.”
Andrew Lyle, Operations Director, Medicall
